Migris AS offers exploration risk solutions to oil companies using innovative hydrocarbon migration modelling techniques.

Migri (2009) is a next generation interactive 3D hydrocarbon migration simulator for exploration risk analysis.

The use of migration modelling techniques in the risking of exploration prospect can help describe and reduce geologic and economic uncertainties before drilling exploration wells. New risking techniques using a combination of Monte Carlo and migration modelling are being developed and offered to oil companies by Migris AS. The techniques are based on findings of Øyvind Sylta in his doctorate thesis.

NEWS: (updated 26 November 2009):

2009-11:. Migris has now moved to new offices in the same building (Pirsenteret in Trondheim Harbour), which means we have passed the “incubator days” of a new company.

2009-09:. Migri 1.0.0 was released to our sponsor on September 30 2009.

2009-05:. Migris contributed a presentation on intrinsic uncertainties at the 2009 basin and petroleum systems modeling Hedberg conference.

2009-04:. The “Calibrating fault seal using a hydrocarbon migration model of the Oseberg Syd area, Viking Graben” paper by Childs et al  (2009) uses techniques that Migri aims to improve upon.

2009-03:. A two-day “training and testing” meeting with our Migri sponsor was successfully completed 23 & 24 March 2009. We gained valuable user input for the final stages of completing the 1.0 release of Migri.

2008-12:. Migris AS wishes all existing customers a happy new year and thank you all for an exciting 2008, including our case-studies for the Norwegian TFO and 20th rounds and the Migri development projects.

2008-10:. We introduced our new methodology for investigating intrinsic probabilities using a Quantum approach to Monte Carlo simulation at the NMOG 2008 meeting in Stavanger.

2008-09:. Migri 0.9.9 – the 6th release candidate of Migri has been finished.

2008-08:. In Petroleum Geoscience 14/3 we have contributed to Tømmerås & Mann (improved hydrocarbon charge prediction by source-rock modelling) and Sylta (analyzing exploration uncertainties by tight integration of seismic and hydrocarbon migration modelling) papers.

2008-07:. Migri 0.9.8-80721 – the 5th release candidate of Migri has been made available. Parts of Migri are now being used in our case-studies for clients.

2008-05:.
Our 2008 AAPG San Antonio migration poster that describes important element of our migration technology can now be downloaded as a pdf document (5MB).

2008-04:. Migri 0.9.6-80416 – the 4th release candidate of Migri has been made available.

2008-02:.
Conferences 2008: We participated at the AAPG San Antonio meeting with a poster (Sylta & Tømmerås, 2008) and at the EAGE Rome meeting with co-authoring a presentation (Lothe et al, 2008).

2008-01:.
If you are interested in universal compaction models, take a look at the Fjær et al. 2006 AAPG Perth poster (pdf), developed at Sintef Petroleum Research.
